Marketing Command Center is Salesforce Marketing Cloud's big-screen surface — a highly visual, touch-enabled social listening and monitoring ecosystem that pulls campaigns, sentiment, and live posts into one wall. It shipped as a full package: four touch-enabled LCD displays and the compute to drive them, sold alongside the software. Over the next few years the product did more than $90M in sales.

The system was theme-based and templated end-to-end. Every deployment could be re-skinned by the customer — UI colors, typography, logos, background imagery — so the same modules landed as a fintech operations center, a sports league fan wall, or an event activation without any bespoke design work. I designed the module system, the theming layer, and the interaction model for composing a wall out of reusable panels.

Themed, templated, and yours.

Every deployment was theme-driven. Customers applied their own brand — palette, typography, logos, background imagery — across the whole wall without touching a designer. Same modules, different identity, per campaign or per venue.

Where the Command Center started.

The first release ran on the Radian6 listening product in partnership with Twitter — a dense KPI wall built to hold up in a Marketing Operations Center and set the grid discipline every later iteration inherited.

ExactTarget proof of concept — a solo build in Flash.

A later proof of concept reframed the Command Center around an email campaign as well as social listening — built to pitch executives and their teams at a Salesforce Sales Kick-off and show how far the format could stretch.

I designed and built the entire experience myself — starting in Photoshop, then rebuilding every screen in Flash and coding the animation and interactions in ActionScript. One designer, one codebase, one very antiquated runtime.
